Improving Emotional Support, Communication & Connections for Older People Sensory Loss

Communicate & Connect Groups - fortnightly in Ayr, Galston & Largs
We will provide an opportunity for peer support and communication with others who experience the same loss of Hearing/Sight Loss. We will also provide emotional support and give information on helpful hints and tips in relation to stress management as well as good communication and lipreading techniques.
Wellbeing Café - The Burns Centre, Alloway - 3rd Tues of each month 2-3.30pm
We will offer monthly support to a group of individuals at a coffee shop to provide an opportunity to communicate, connect with others and provide emotional support and a listening ear.
Home Support Visits
We will provide one to one support and to help individuals overcome challenges that arise with hearing/sight loss. We will supply them with hearing aid batteries, service their hearing aids and provide them with the hints and tips to help them communicate better with their family and friends and this will thereby help them feel less isolated.
Sensory Help Packs & Guidance Notes
We will issue practical packs:- hearing aid cleaning tools, hearing aid batteries, hand held magnifier, bump ons, support lanyard in addition to helpful guidance notes and local contacts. These packs will help individuals cope better with their sensory loss and help them communicate better.
Supporting Wellbeing Videos
We will support individuals by providing them with the guidance and information on how to cope better with their sensory loss, videos include: How to Clean Your Hearing Aid, How to Change Your Battery, How to Re-Tube Your Aid, Good Communication Hints & Tips, Sight Loss Hints & Tips and Stress Management Hints & Tips.
